Shelter Urges Pet Owners to Bring Animals Indoors

animalshelterThe Montgomery County Humane Society (MCHS) is preparing for the upcoming cold front.

Cris Bombaugh, president and CEO of the shelter, said they have blankets and beds for the animals and will be positioning heaters and fans to keep warm air moving through all the rooms. Their regularly scheduled staff will be on duty tomorrow to make sure all the animals are safe.

“If temperatures permit, dogs will be allowed to exercise outside for very short periods,” Bombaugh said. “We will probably not do visits or longer walks tomorrow.” The shelter website posted an alert urging residents to bring their pets indoors as temperatures drop.

Organizers say the shelter is in need of bedding, including comforters, blankets, and towels. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter at 14645 Rothgeb Drive in Rockville.
