Shapiro & Duncan Honored for Support of the Local Hispanic Community

telemundo2Shapiro & Duncan, Inc., a mechanical contracting firm in Rockville, was recently recognized for their partnership with local non-profit Identity for their commitment to helping Latino youth and their families.

The company was one of five awardees from different community sectors who were recognized by the Telemundo Washington DC’s 5th Annual Montgomery County Hispanic Heritage Awards, according to a news release.

“This is a part of our values and business core,” said Vice President of business development Mark Drury. “We’re a part of the community and when the community thrives, so do we.”

Identity provides resources for Latino youth living in high-poverty areas of Montgomery County by working with them in schools and the community. Their goal is to help improve social and emotional learning, achieve academic success, and prepare for work.

Shapiro & Duncan has partnered with Identity for more than 10 years. Staff say they continue to see the value in connecting with and supporting the local Hispanic community, by providing them pathways to employment, education and success.
