Seven-Day COVID-19 Positivity Averages: 3.3% Statewide, 2.36% in County

The Maryland Department of Health on Thursday reported 87 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County. That brings the cumulative case count since the start of the pandemic to 19,733.

With a lower rate than 16 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions, the county had a rolling seven-day average of 2.36% for positive COVID-19 tests.

Montgomery County has led the state in coronavirus-related fatalities, adding two more on Thursday for a pandemic total of 779. Prince George’s County, however, has logged over 6,000 more cases in total since March.

The state recorded 577 new infections Thursday, bringing its total to 106,063. Six new deaths were reported, making the pandemic death toll 3,580. Maryland’s seven-day rolling average for test positivity was 3.30%.
