Seven-Day COVID-19 Positivity Averages: 2.65% Statewide, 2.29% in Montgomery County

Maryland and Montgomery County Record Pandemic Low Seven-Day Positivity Averages

Tuesday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 56 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County bringing the cumulative case count to 21,933 since the start of the pandemic.

With a lower rate than 15 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions, the county had a rolling seven-day average of 2.29% for positive COVID-19 tests, setting a pandemic low average.

Montgomery County has led the state in coronavirus-related fatalities, adding three more on Tuesday for a pandemic total of 801. Prince George’s County, however, has logged over 6,700 more cases in total since March.

The state recorded 344 new infections Tuesday, bringing its total to 120,912. Nine new deaths were reported Tuesday, making the pandemic death toll 3,748.

The rolling seven-day average for positive COVID-19 testes continues a downward trend. Sunday the state reported a rate of 2.85% followed by 2.75% Monday and then 2.65 Tuesday. This is the lowest rate since the start of the pandemic.
