Sesma Elected to NLC Board

Gaithersburg City Council Vice President Michael Sesma has been elected to a two-year term on the Board of Directors (BOD) of the National League of Cities (NLC), the nation’s oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance.

Sesma, who was elected to the Gaithersburg City Council in 2005, has served on NLC’s Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Advocacy Committee since 2007, chairing it in 2012. The 22-member BOD shapes NLC’s priorities and directs the organization’s advocacy, research and membership activities.

“I’m happy to have the opportunity to represent Gaithersburg and other Maryland cities on the NLC Board of Directors,” said Semsa. “I’ll work hard with other elected officials and the NLC leadership to advance advocacy at the federal and state level for the priorities that are important in making American cities and towns better.”

NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans. For more information, visit www.nlc.org.
