Pedestrian Struck at Darnestown and Shady Grove Road

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate a pedestrian collision involving a school bus that occurred on May 21 in Rockville.
According to police, the pedestrian, Jason Alexander Estabrook (42) of Point of Rocks, passed away from his injuries on May 27.

Montgomery County police are investing a serious accident involving a pedestrian and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) bus that occurred at 2:34 p.m. at Darnestown Road and Shady Grove Road on May 21. Police said there were no students on the school bus when the accident occurred.
According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was jogging on the sidewalk adjacent to the southbound lanes of Shady Grove Road. Police said the pedestrian was jogging in a northbound direction facing traffic, and was just south of the intersection with Darnestown Road. The school bus, without any passengers on board, was traveling eastbound on Darnestown Road in the lane next to the curb, according to police. At the intersection of Shady Grove Road and Darnestown Road the pedestrian entered the roadway and was struck by the bus, police said.
Police have identified the pedestrian as Jason Estabrook, 42, of Point of Rocks. According to police, Estabrook was transported to Suburban Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The school bus was operated by Tugjnyam Bavaa, age 58, of Rockville, according to police. The driver was not injured in the collision, police said.
