Section of ICC To Close This Weekend for Tolling System Upgrades

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is implementing electronic tolling systems along the Intercounty Connector (ICC). As a result, a section of the ICC in Montgomery County is scheduled to be closed Feb. 28 through March 2.

Friday, Feb. 28 from 9 p.m. to Monday, March 2 at 5 a.m.

Westbound traffic on the ICC (MD 200) will be detoured at I-95. The detour will direct motorists south on I-95 to MD 212 (Exit 29B), east on Cherry Hill Road to Columbia Pike (US 29) and north on Columbia Pike back to westbound ICC/MD 200.

The upgrades include replacing hardware and software at all toll facilities. According to the MDTA, the detours are needed to accommodate crews and equipment while also ensuring the safety of motorists and workers.

Upgrades are expected to continue until April. MDTA has scheduled additional work throughout the month of March and will release further information on the detours as the dates approach.
