Grocery Store Bank Robber Strikes Same Bank Twice in Rockville

Montgomery County police are investigating two robberies committed by an unidentified male at a SunTrust Bank inside a Safeway on Shady Grove Road. The first robbery occurred on Jan. 27 at 4 p.m. and the second occurred yesterday around the same time.

Detectives say the man approached the teller and passed a note demanding cash. He then fled with an envelope containing an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police have not said whether the robber is connected to the incident on Jan. 12 at another Safeway only 5 miles away.

Police have released surveillance images from the robbery.

Anyone with information related to the robbery should call the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100. For those who wish to remain anonymous, call the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crimes solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
