Rotary Fights Polio

Rotary International has taken the lead on ending polio worldwide. I am proud to be Area Governor for the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary Club. In this capacity, I attended the Rotary Mid Atlantic States Conference this past weekend, also known as Chesapeake PETS (Presidents-Elect Training Seminar).

Did you know there are only three countries left in the world with cases of polio? They are Pakistan, Nigeria and Afghanistan. Rotary has set a goal to end polio in those countries. We send a special thanks to Bill Gates for his $300 million donation to Rotary International. Also, special thanks go to Richard Carson, Chair of Chesapeake PETS Conference.

Fact: Children in the U.S. have no idea what polio is because it was eradicated about 50 years ago.
