Rockville Tops Livability’s Best City for Families in 2016 List

rockville town square plazaRockville ranks number one on Livability.com’s “10 Best Cities for Families, 2016” list.

According to a news release, editors from the website determined the list by crunching data about quality of schools, crime rate, measures of health quality, and economic factors as well. Cities also received points based on a communities walkability, diverse and have amenities like parks and libraries.

“The city hosts an impressive number of family-friendly activities, and boasts the largest and most awarded school district in the state. Paired with one of the lowest family poverty rates on this list, and a median household income nearly double the national average, families find Rockville quite appealing,” the news release stated. Livability’s site also notes Rockville’s growing bio-med  and technology industries as an important draw for families as well.

This is the second time the city has been listed by Livability.com as one of the Best Cities for Families, according to a City of Rockville news release. Rockville has also appeared on Livability.com’s Best Places to Live list as well.
