Tree City
The city of Rockville hosted an Arbor Day ceremony on April 25 in front of the new Police Department headquarters at 2 West Montgomery Avenue.
“One of the things that makes Rockville unique is our community’s commitment to tree preservation,” said Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio. “Our neighborhoods and parks are full of mature trees that we depend on to clean the air and produce oxygen.”
Rockville forestry staff planted two trees to commemorate Arbor Day. During the ceremony, Rockville’s Tree City USA Award for 2011 was also presented by a representative of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forest Service.
