Rockville Thieves Snag Catalytic Converter, Rain Barrel

Rockville Police StationThieves made off with a catalytic converter and a rain barrel, according to the latest crime summary from Rockville City police.

The catalytic converter, which helps reduce the pollution cars emit, was removed from under the car parked in the 200 block of Congressional Lane, sometime between 2 p.m. April 3 and 8 a.m. April 5, the summary says.

“It’s not the first time,” Acting Chief Bob Rappoport said.

The rain barrel was taken from a yard in the 100 block of Monument Street, sometime between 9 a.m. and 7:20 p.m. April 8, the summary says.

Arrests:

On March 20 between 8:30 p.m. and 8:50 p.m., a 29-year-old man was arrested for malicious destruction of property, trespassing, and rogue and vagabond, after an incident that occurred in the 300 block of Croydon Avenue.

On March 23 between 3:05 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., during the service of an arrest warrant, a 26-year-old woman was also charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and failure to obey a lawful order, after an incident that occurred in the 200 block of North Stonestreet Avenue.

On March 25 between 6:35 p.m. and 7 p.m., a 48-year-old man was arrested for possession of CDS-crack cocaine and obstructing and hindering a police investigation, after an incident near the intersection of North Grandin Avenue and Coleman Park Lane.

On March 25 at 9:15 p.m., two 19-year-old men were arrested for strong-arm robbery and second-degree assault after an incident that occurred in the 2000 block of Veirs Mill Road. One of the men also was charged with making a false statement to a police officer.

On March 26 at 4:42 p.m., a 47-year-old woman was arrested for theft, and obstructing and hindering a police investigation after an incident that occurred in the 600 block of Hungerford Drive.

On March 29 between 10:47 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., a 40-year-old man was arrested for second-degree assault after an incident that occurred in the 700 block of Rockville Pike.

On March 29 at 3:41 p.m., a 44-year-old man was arrested for making a false statement to a police officer, after an incident that occurred in the 100 block of Rollins Avenue.

On April 1 at 9:06 p.m., a 22-year-old man was arrested for second-degree assault, disorderly intoxication, disorderly conduct and failure to obey a lawful order, after an incident that occurred in the 14000 block of Cove Lane.

On April 3, a request was submitted to the Montgomery County Police Department’s Special Victims Investigation Division for a 17-year-old boy to be charged with possession of a dangerous weapon on school property (knife), disrupting school operations and disorderly conduct, after an incident that occurred in the 200 block of Richard Montgomery Drive.

Incidents:

1500 block of Rockville Pike, the complainant reported that someone removed a pair of designer sunglasses from a locked vehicle on March 24 between 7:45 a.m. and 3:33 p.m.

700 block of Hungerford Drive, the complainant reported that while shopping at a store, someone removed her wallet containing cash, credit/debit cards and driver’s license, from her purse on March 25 between 6:25 p.m. and 6:35 p.m.

800 block of Rockville Pike, the complainant reported that while his vehicle was being serviced, someone removed cash from the glove box on March 26 at 4:16 p.m.

2200 block of Stanley Avenue, the complainant reported that someone removed an ignition interlock system, stereo face plate and drill set from an unlocked vehicle between 5:30 p.m. March 26 and 6:30 a.m. March 27.

200 block of Richard Montgomery Drive, the complainant reported that someone drew an anti-Semitic symbol on a concrete pillar on March 27 between 7 a.m. and 7:40 p.m.

700 block of Hungerford Drive, someone gained entry by breaking the glass front door at a business on March 29 between 12:01 a.m. and 7:47 a.m. Once inside the perpetrator removed cigarettes and wine.

600 block of Monroe Street, the complainant reported that someone removed a delivery package containing food items on March 28 between 12:57 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

12900 block of Ardennes Avenue, someone gained entry possibly through an unsecured front door at a home on March 29 between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Once inside, the thief removed jewelry.

2200 block of Veirs Mill Road, the complainant reported that a man, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, approached him and asked if he was “Spanish,” and was then struck in the face on March 31 at 11:33 a.m. The person then fled the scene. The person has a thin build, dreadlocks/twists and was last seen wearing black pants and black sweatshirt.

200 block of Richard Montgomery Drive, the complainant reported that someone removed a pair of pants, cell phone, wallet and cash that had been left unsecured in a locker room on March 30 between 2:30 p.m. and 2:40 p.m.

400 block of Elmcroft Boulevard, the complainant reported that someone removed an iPod from a locked vehicle between 5:30 p.m. March 31 and 8 a.m. April 1.

100 block of Watkins Pond Boulevard, the complainants reported that someone had entered an unlocked vehicle between 6:30 p.m. March 31 and 1 p.m. April 1. Once inside the vehicle, the thief removed a spare key belonging to a second vehicle, which was then stolen.

200 block of North Washington Street, the complainant reported that someone removed cash and several checks that had been left in an unsecured office on April 3 between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

800 block of Rockville Pike, the complainant reported that someone removed a wallet containing cash, and credit/debit cards from a locked vehicle on April 5 between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Unit block of Church Street, the complainant reported that someone removed a wallet containing credit cards and driver’s license from an unsecured office on April 5 between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

2000 block of Veirs Mill Road, the complainant reported an unattended cell phone was taken from a counter on April 6 between 7 a.m. and 7:10 a.m. A review of the video surveillance system shows two people: One with a medium build, short black hair, light skin tone and was last seen wearing tan boots, light blue jeans, blue jacket, and the other with medium build, light brown skin tone and was last seen wearing dark blue hat, light blue jeans and burgundy/maroon shirt.

800 block of Rockville Pike, the complainant reported that someone removed a cell phone, a cell phone case, credit/debit cards and driver’s license from a vehicle on April 7 between 2:33 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
