Rockville Science Day Celebrates 25 Years

Rocket launching, animal petting and robot programming are some of the features set in motion for the 25th annual Rockville Science Day.

The  free event, which runs from noon to 5 p.m. on April 6, is organized by the Rockville Consortium for Science and sponsored by the City of Rockville, Montgomery College and the Rockville Science Center. It will take place at Montgomery College at 51 Mannakee St.

More than 80 exhibitors will be on site during the event, offering a variety of activities where participants can learn about a wide range of sciences including environmental science, space exploration, reptiles and birds, biotechnology and much more. This year, visitors can expect to see a “secret” special delivery from NASA. Last year, more than 4,000 people attended Science Day.

Rockville Science Day is an opening event for the USA Science & Engineering Festival, which is April 26-27 at the Washington Convention Center.

In celebration of its 25th year, Science Day organizers are presenting events throughout the weekend. On April 4, from 7-9 p.m., there will be a special presentation titled “Forging Frontiers: Women Leaders in STEM,” by Kate Campbell Stevenson.

This special event, focusing on women in the science, technology, engineering and math fields, will be held at the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center at Montgomery College.
