Rockville Schedules a Town Hall Meeting on Diversity for Feb. 9 (VIDEO)

Updated 1.30.17 In an effort to ensure that Rockville is a community that welcomes and engages everyone who lives and works there, city officials are inviting residents to attend a Town Hall meeting on diversity set for Feb. 9.  This is the first town hall style meeting on this topic, according to city officials.

“Rockville is proud to be one of the most diverse cities in the nation,” said Marylou Berg, spokesperson, City of Rockville. “The Mayor and Council are holding this Town Hall to foster community dialogue and to get community input on how to improve efforts to welcome and engage our diverse population.”

Rockville is the 14th most diverse city in America and one-third of its residents were born outside the United States, according to Berg.

Human Rights Commission Chair Ebony Davis and former Rockville City Police Department chief Terry Treschuk will facilitate the town hall. Those in attendance will be able to address their suggestions and concerns to the mayor and city council.

The Town Hall will run from 7-9 p.m. in the Carnation Room of the Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Drive. Berg stated the meeting was planned by the mayor and city council before President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration and border security.
