Rockville Police Seek Man Who Struck Store Employee

Rockville police are looking for a man who attacked a store worker July 4, according to the latest city crime summary.

The incident occurred between 12:50 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. in the 1300 block of Rockville Pike, when the worker was waiting on a customer, the crime summary says.

That’s when a man approached from behind and began striking the worker, police said. Someone else tried to push the man away, police said, and the man began striking the second person as well.

Then the man then ran out of the business and fled the location on a bicycle in an unknown direction.

The man is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, thin build, brown eyes, black Afro, light brown skin tone, last seen wearing black shorts and white shirt, carrying a black sling backpack.

Arrests

On July 2, a 40-year-old man was arrested for two counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of malicious destruction of property, after two earlier incidents that occurred on June 15 in the 1500 block of Rockville Pike and between June 23 and June 24 in the 700 block of First Street.

On July 3 between 9:10 a.m. and 9:14 a.m., a 33-year-old man was arrested for littering, after a complaint in the 100 block of Rockville Pike.

On July 5 between 7:29 p.m. and 8:10 p.m., a 78-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct, after a complaint in the 100 block of Maryland Avenue.

On July 7 between 3:47 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., a 22-year-old man was arrested for theft and disorderly conduct, after a complaint in the 1600 block of Rockville Pike.

Incidents

1000 block of Oak Knoll Terrace, the complainant reported that someone removed a box containing jewelry from a home between at noon May 1 and 9:55 p.m. July 5.

300 block of Watkins Circle, the complainant reported that someone removed a rocking chair with cushion from a front porch between 6 a.m. June 5 and 1:08 p.m. June 27.

7400 block of Westmore Road, the complainant reported that someone removed a vehicle from a business on June 25 between 5:15 a.m. and 5:20 a.m.

800 block of Rollins Avenue, a man gained entry into a home by breaking a front-door window pane at 10:30 a.m. June 29. Once inside, the man was confronted by the resident. The man then left the home and was last seen walking in the direction of Rockville Pike. The man is described as 6 feet tall, thin build, dark brown skin tone, last seen wearing dark blue jeans, and black hooded sweatshirt, carrying a black backpack with white stripes.

1100 block of Wootton Parkway, the complainant reported that a man removed an unattended wallet containing cash, a driver’s license and credit cards from a workstation on June 30 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. The man is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, 200 pounds, medium build, bald/shaven head, medium brown skin tone, last seen wearing blue pants and gray shirt.

200 block of North Van Buren Street, someone gained entry into a home by cutting a window screen to an open front window on June 30 between 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Once inside the suspect removed a laptop.

1000 block of Brice Road, the complainant reported that someone removed a cable box from a home that was under renovation between noon June 30 and 3 p.m. July 3.

800 block of King Farm Boulevard, the complainant reported that someone removed cash from a business between 6:36 p.m. June 30 and 6:07 p.m. July 7.

1100 block of Seven Locks Road, the complainant reported that someone removed a wallet containing credit cards and cash from a locked locker on June 30 between 6:49 p.m. and 8 p.m.

200 block of Nelson Street, the complainant reported that someone removed an iPad from an unlocked vehicle between 11:30 p.m. July 1 and 8:30 a.m. July 2.

600 block of Azalea Drive, the complainant reported that someone removed a riding helmet, a backpack and grooming supplies from an unlocked vehicle between July 1 and July 2.

200 block of North Washington Street, the complainant reported that he had met a man between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. July 2 about a room for rent. The complainant withdrew money from an ATM machine and gave it to the man. The suspect is described as about 19 years old, 5 feet 10 inches, thin build and black hair.

1000 block of Rockville Pike, the complainant reported that two men entered the business between 1:30 p.m. and 1:39 p.m. July 3. The men removed an unknown amount of designer glasses and left the business without making payment. One man is described as wearing a black/white shirt. Police have no description for the other man.

1700 block of Rockville Pike, the complainant reported that someone removed a dash camera, a radar detector and a wallet containing cash from a vehicle between 1 a.m. and 11 a.m. July 4.

500 block of Hungerford Drive, the complainants reported that someone had removed a watch, a lighter, a bottle of cologne, a backpack and a speaker from an unlocked vehicle on July 5 between 12 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.

700 block of Monroe Street, the complainant reported that he had been in contact with someone whom he thought was a friend at 11:30 p.m. July 5. The person told the complainant to meet him outside. As the complainant walked to the rear of the building, the man jumped out of the bushes. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the complainant. The man searched the complainant and when no cash was found, the man then took the complainant’s shoes. The man was last seen wearing a black mask.

Unit block of Maryland Avenue, the complainant reported that someone removed her cell phone from a charging station locker between 2:00 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. July 8.
