Rockville Police Moving (Video)
The Rockville City Police Department (RCPD) will move to its new headquarters at 2 West Montgomery Ave. as of Friday, Sept. 21. The facility is located at the corner of West Montgomery Avenue and Washington Street in the newly renovated historic post office building.
All police-related functions will be housed in the new headquarters. This includes police, landlord/tenant affairs, code enforcement/community enhancement, the photo enforcement unit, neighborhood services (animal control) and the victim advocate program. Those in need of police assistance or services or anyone who needs to pay a ticket or fine, should visit the new headquarters, not City Hall.
All phone numbers and email addresses will remain the same. To contact the RCPD non-emergency line, call 240-314-8900. In case of emergency, call 911.
A ceremonial grand opening and public tour dates will be announced at a later time.
The renovation of the historic building and construction of a new annex for use as the police headquarters has been underway since early 2011. The project began in 2008 when the federal government transferred the property to the City at no charge with the condition that it would be used for homeland security and public safety purposes.
