Rockville Police Charge Man with Assault, Sex, Animal Cruelty Charges

istock police lights sirensA 57-year-old man was arrested Feb. 18 for first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, attempted second-degree sex assault, animal cruelty-torture of an animal, animal cruelty-failure to provide care, and aggravated cruelty to an animal, after an earlier incident that occurred between 10 p.m. Feb. 14 and 2 a.m. Feb. 15 in the unit block of Alsace Lane.

Other arrests

A 34-year-old man was arrested at 3:39 a.m. Feb. 19 for second-degree assault on a police officer, obstructing and hindering a police investigation, resisting arrest, and public intoxication, after an incident that occurred near Beall and Maryland avenues.

A 42-year-old man was arrested at 2:56 p.m. Feb. 22 for intoxicated endangerment, after an incident that occurred near Clagett and Crawford drives.

A 21-year-old woman was arrested at 4:57 a.m. Feb. 23 for trespassing after a complaint in the 100 block of Rollins Avenue.

A 31-year-old man was arrested for theft between 2:40 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. Feb. 23 after a complaint in the 300 block of Martins Lane.

A 23-year-old man was arrested at 2:31 a.m. Feb. 24 for second-degree assault on a police officer, and an 18-year-old woman was arrested for resisting arrest and obstructing and hindering a police investigation, after an incident that occurred near Crawford Drive and Midway Avenue.

A 52-year-old man was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Feb. 24 for theft, malicious destruction of property, possession of CDS-paraphernalia, and possession of CDS-crack cocaine, after an incident that occurred in the 1600 block of Rockville Pike.

Incidents

1800 block of Chapman Avenue, the complainant reported that someone removed a laptop and a radar detector from a vehicle between 2:57 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Feb. 17.

400 block of Redland Boulevard, the complainant reported that someone removed a wallet with cash, a credit card and a driver’s license from a counter between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Feb. 18.

1700 block of Rockville Pike, the complainant reported that two men entered the business between 11:40 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Feb. 22. While one person engaged the complainant in conversation, the second suspect removed a purse containing a wallet, keys, credit cards and cash. The suspects then left the business. The first man is described as a 5 feet, 8 inches tall, thin build, very short black hair, light brown skin tone, last seen wearing gold necklace, white pants and white shirt. The second man is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, medium build, very short black hair, dark skin tone, last seen wearing gray “pleather” jacket.

1500 block of Rockville Pike, the complainant reported that someone removed a cell phone and a wallet from a vehicle between 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Feb. 23.

Unit block of Gude Drive, the complainant reported that someone removed a wallet containing credit cards, cash and a driver’s license from an unsecured drawer at an office between 12:50 p.m. and 1:28 p.m. Feb. 23.

2000 block of Ashleigh Woods Court, the complainants reported that delivery packages containing sporting memorabilia, clothing, a mug, and wipes were removed between Feb. 22 and Feb. 23.

300 block of Broadwood Drive, the complainant reported that a delivery package containing a router was removed on Feb. 23.

1700 block of Gruenther Avenue, the complainant reported that a delivery package containing clothing was removed on Feb. 23.
