Rockville City police officers arrested a former Richard Montgomery High School student and charged him with bringing a handgun to the school, at 250 Richard Montgomery Drive, in Rockville on Nov. 6.

According to police, Aaron Anderson, 18, of  Gaithersburg, is charged with:

• One count of carrying a concealed dangerous weapon.
• One count of minor (under age 21) in possession of a handgun.
• One count of possession of a stolen handgun.
• One count of possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds.
• One count of trespassing on school grounds.

Police said Anderson was stopped Wednesday, Nov. 5 inside the school. Police said he told school staff that he was a former student and was visiting. Staff told Anderson that he was not allowed inside the school because he was not a current student. Anderson left without incident.

On Thursday, with the school administration, security team and school resource officer employing an increased security plan, the school’s security team leader saw Anderson on school property during the lunch period. Rockville police responded and stopped Anderson on Monroe Street. According to police, he was found to be carrying a handgun in a gym bag and was arrested.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Rockville City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit at 240.314.8938.
