Rockville Man Gets 22 Years for Child Porn Charges

A 44-year-old Rockville man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for federal child pornography charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office reported.

Between June 16 and Oct. 9, 2017, Stephen McGrath posed online as a modeling agent, communicating with six girls, between the ages of 12 and 16, according to the U.S. Attorney.

McGrath confirmed the ages of the girls and then requested photos, including sexually explicit images. The victims sent the images as part of their “modeling evaluation,” according to online records.

Using the computer addresses used to communicate with the first victim, law enforcement officers traced the messages to McGrath’s home, according to the U.S. Attorney. Officers executed a search warrant and seized McGrath’s phone, which led to more than 600 images of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

McGrath pleaded guilty in November. He was charged specifically with coercing a minor into sexual activity, receiving child pornography and possessing child pornography, according to the indictment.
