Rockville Launches Thanksgiving Holiday Food Drive

Give locally to help Rockville families in need this holiday season.rockvilleholidaydrive

The City of Rockville’s Holiday Drive is collecting food to distribute for Thanksgiving meals. Drop off your food donations at the following locations through Thursday, Nov. 20:
• Rockville City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave.
• Lincoln Park Community Center, 357 Frederick Ave.
• Thomas Farm Community Center, 700 Fallsgrove Drive
• Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway

Rockville continues to expand its collection and distribution of healthier food to more families. With this in mind, donations of whole grain pasta, low-sodium canned vegetables and sugar-free canned fruit are encouraged. Here’s a list of what’s needed.

Tax-deductible financial donations are also appreciated. Checks can be made payable to: City of Rockville Holiday Drive Fund, 111 Maryland Ave., 1st Floor, Rockville, Md. 20850.

The Holiday Drive typically involves many community members volunteering to sort and pack food for Thanksgiving distribution. Help is needed on Saturday, Nov. 22. Call 240.314.8310 or email kbouwkamp@rockvillemd.gov to sign up.

The continued success of the Rockville Holiday Drive depends on a collaborative partnership with local churches, schools, civic organizations, service clubs, businesses, non-profits, and individuals working together to make the holidays special for the less fortunate.
