Rockville Invites Residents to January Meetings on Master Plan Update (VIDEO)
As part of Rockville 2040, the city will hold open house meetings Jan. 11, 16 and 20 to provide residents with feedback on the draft policies and concepts for the update to the city’s comprehensive master plan.
Rockville 2040 is the city’s initiative, which began with a community kickoff meeting May 9, 2015, to update the 2002 comprehensive master plan. Listening sessions, citywide forums, community and stakeholder meetings were held to help formulate the major goals for the new plan. Those goals include preserving and improving quality of life in Rockville by guiding development and conservation, and ensuring that the city can continue to provide high-quality community facilities.
Public feedback from the January meetings will be used to prepare the draft plan which will be submitted to a formal review process with the Planning Commission and Mayor and Council.
The schedule for the meetings at City Hall:
- Thursday, Jan. 11 7-9:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, Jan. 16 7-9:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Jan. 20 9 a.m.-noon.
The same information will be discussed at each meeting. Rockville staff will be on hand to discuss key plan ideas and answer questions. The meetings will follow an open house format, with maps, charts and displays illustrating topics and concepts.
