Rockville Begins Monitoring Speeds on Maryland Avenue This Week (VIDEO)

speed camera 2Slow down! The Rockville Police Department is deploying a speed monitoring system on Maryland Avenue near the intersection of South Washington Street this week.

The system will use portable cameras to monitor eastbound and westbound traffic. Motorists may see “photo enforced” signs, but officials say citations will not be issued for the first 30 days.

After the grace period, citations will be issued, beginning Feb. 3, for vehicles exceeding the posted speed limit by 12 mph or more.

You can learn more about the city’s speed monitoring program online, here.
