Riderwood Appoints Wendy Ferris as Director of General Services
Operating a large-scale senior living community such as Riderwood in Silver Spring is like running a small city. Daily services for 2,500 residents must be carefully planned and executed, just as a city manager coordinates services for citizens.
At Riderwood, those types of services in the General Services Department include infrastructure maintenance, transportation and security.
The Erickson Living retirement community is thus proud to announce the hiring of Wendy Ferris as the Director of General Services.
Previously, Mrs. Ferris served as an administrator at Ginger Cove, a retirement community in Annapolis, MD, for eleven years.
In her leadership position at Riderwood, Mrs. Ferris will oversee the daily operations of the General Services Department that includes over two hundred employees. She will coordinate long-range, master planning infrastructure projects such as Riderwood Connect, the implementation of Wi-Fi services throughout the 120-acre campus. Mrs. Ferris will also work with campus leadership on achieving high resident satisfaction results.
Mrs. Ferris earned her B.A. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in Health Science & Policy and Medical Sociology. She received an MBA degree from the University of Phoenix.
An Annapolis native, Mrs. Ferris currently resides in Elkridge with her husband and two daughters. She volunteers with the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland and has served as a surveyor for CARF-CCAC.
