Ride On to Modify Some Bus Schedules (Video)
Beginning Oct. 20, Montgomery County’s Ride On bus system will make modifications to its bus schedule on certain routes.
Many of the changes involve only minor time adjustments so that bus schedules more closely match actual travel times in traffic.
Changes to the routes are shown below and are posted on Ride On’s website.
Route 1: Additional service in the afternoon. Also, new routing towards Silver Spring from the Rosemary Hills neighborhood along 16th Street, Spring Street, and Second Avenue instead of East West Highway. Trips towards Friendship Heights will continue to leave downtown Silver Spring by way of East West Highway.
Route 2: Fewer trips on weekdays and schedule departure time adjustments on weekends. The Walter Reed Annex will be renamed the Fort Detrick Annex. In downtown Silver Spring, the Route 2 bus will be boarded at Bay Z on Bonifant Street rather than Bay E on Wayne Avenue.
Route 4: Service will operate along Linden Lane instead of Brookville Road.
Route 6: Schedule departure time adjustments.
Route 9: Schedule departure time adjustments and more service at the beginning and end of the day.
Route 10: Additional afternoon weekday service.
Route 11: Afternoon schedule departure time adjustments.
Route 15: Service reductions in the off-peak direction on weekdays, after 7 p.m. and on Sundays.
Route 16: Minor schedule departure time adjustments in afternoon weekday service.
Route 17: Minor schedule departure time adjustments in morning service.
Route 19: Minor schedule departure time adjustments.
Route 20: A slight reduction in midday trips.
Route 24: Schedule departure time adjustments.
Route 42: Service extended to Boiling Brook Parkway.
Route 43: Minor reduction in the number of trips and schedule departure time adjustments along the route.
Route 46: Minor schedule departure time adjustments on Saturday and Sunday.
Route 49: Modest schedule departure time adjustments in the morning rush hour schedule.
Route 55: Additional service during rush hour and midday between the Lakeforest Transit Center and Rockville Metro Station.
Route 56: More service to and from Edison Park.
Route 59:Add a small number of trips, adjust the late night schedule departure times, and modify Walker’s Choice service.
Route 61: Minor schedule departure time adjustments.
Route 70: Adjust schedule departure time during rush hour and add more service at the beginning and end of the day.
Route 81: Routing change at White Flint Metro Station. Riders will exit at east side of Route 355. No schedule changes.
Route 90: Minor schedule departure time adjustments.
Route 94: Eliminate “Meet the MARC” service between the Kingsview Park and Ride Lot and the Germantown MARC Train Station because of low ridership. The last day of Kingsview service is Oct. 18. New “Meet the MARC” service is being proposed for Clarksburg beginning in January.
Route 96: Expand service area at midday on weekdays in Rockspring Business Park with somewhat fewer trips.
Route 98: Schedule departure time adjustments. Add more service to the SoccerPlex Stadium at the beginning and end of weekend days.
Route 100: Minor reduction in number of trips. Add trip at 4:45 a.m. going towards the Shady Grove Metro.
