Ride On to Hold Public Forum on Proposed Service Additions

Montgomery County is scheduled to hold a public forum on proposed Ride On service additions on Oct.29 at the Silver Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Place. The forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end after the last speaker presents remarks.

In accordance with operating procedures for service changes, Ride On conducts public forums to solicit comments from concerned parties prior to implementation when 25 percent or more of the service on any route is proposed for change. The anticipated effective date of these Ride On service changes would be January 11, 2015.

Ride On is a community-oriented transportation service, providing convenient and accessible public transportation service to the residents of Montgomery County. As part of its continued goal to provide the best transit service possible, the Division of Transit Services is proposing additions to the routes listed below. Proposed additions include no routing changes.

• Route 28, Van Go Silver Spring Shuttle Service:

–Reduce frequency (the time between buses) to every 12 minutes
–Monday through Thursday- extend hours of service until midnight
–Friday – Extend hours of service until 2 a.m.
–Saturday – new service from 7 a.m. until 2 a.m.

• Route 7- add four trips

• Route 39 – add eight trips

• Route 63 – add midday service between Piccard and Gude drives and Rockville Metro Station

• Route 65 – add three trip

• Route 67- add three trips

Individuals and representatives of organizations who would like to speak at the public forum are requested to furnish in writing, on or before Oct. 27, their name, home address, telephone number, e-mail address and organization to Division of Transit Services. Individuals who have signed up to speak must provide two printed copies of their testimony for the record.

Sign language interpreter services will be provided only upon request with notice as far in advance as possible but not less than three business days prior to the date of the forum. Large print format or information in other languages is available upon request with five business days notice. All public comments, including alternative suggestions, will be considered before any changes are finalized.
