Richard Montgomery Holds on 74-73 Over Gaithersburg

Richard Montgomery High School, Rockville Maryland January 10, 2020

The end of the game at Richard Montgomery came down to the final seconds of play and ended in spectacular fashion.  The crucial play that gave Gaithersburg their chance to win was the result of their defense creating a five second call on a baseline inbounds play, they were down 73-70.  Their inbound play resulted in a three point shot that tied the game with under five seconds to play.  Richard Montgomery drove the ball down the court and #3 Jabril Robinson was fouled.  Less than three seconds remaining in the game as he missed the first free throw and Gaithersburg was hoping for overtime.  After Jabril Robinson made the second free throw Gaithersburg needed a long desperation shot to win, it was not to be.  Richard Montgomery escapes with a win and Gaithersburg suffers their first loss of the season.  The Richard Montgomery fans broke out in a chorus of “nah nah nah nah hey her goodbye.” I am confident the rematch at Gaithersburg will be another closely contested game.
