Returned Library Book Bins Runneth Over

Library users were very eager to return the books they took out more than three months ago when Montgomery County Public Libraries closed due to the global pandemic.

Monday, June 29 was the first day that books could be dropped off, but still not be taken out. On that day, the library staff filled 525 laundry bins with all the returned books they received. That so overwhelmed the staff that residents now are asked not to return their books until next week.

On July 6, the library staff will begin contactless pick up for books on hold. At every county library except Noyes and Long Branch, readers can make appointments to pick up the items they have on hold, which will be made available in the library vestibule or an outside table.
