Residents Speak Up at the Silver Spring Advisory Board Meeting (VIDEO)
It was a full house at the Silver Spring Advisory Board meeting on Dec. 15 at the Silver Spring Civic Center.
Legislators from Districts 18, 19 and 20 were at the event to answer questions from residents, and to share their priorities in Annapolis.
“This is the first time we actually have this type of conversation, more intimate, discussion with our state delegation and it actually proved to be very beneficial,” said Bernice North, chair of Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board.
Questions and comments from residents were mostly about funds for school construction, use of body cameras on police officers, seniors, Purple Line and Bus Rapid Transit.
Senator Jamie Raskin, and Senator Roger Manno along with Delegates Ben Kramer, Alfred Carr, and newly elected Delegates David Moon and Will Smith were at the meeting.
“We have a Republican governor coming in who we need to make the case for Montgomery County’s fair share of school construction funds,” Moon said.
It was also Montgomery County Councilmember Tom Hucker’s first Silver Spring Advisory Board meeting as a councilmember.
Hucker also answered questions about education and transportation. He said the state delegation and county council “need to work together.”
