Residents Celebrate Chinese New Year in Potomac
Hundreds of residents enjoyed dance, music, art and more at the Chinese New Year Celebration in Potomac on Sunday.
Sponsored by the Friends of Potomac Community, attendees were treated to performances, food tasting and a cultural exhibit to bring in the “Year of the Rooster.”
“This event embraces the diversity of our community and was not only a great celebration of Chinese culture, but was also a wonderful learning opportunity for those from other cultures and backgrounds,” said Carmen Berrios Martinez, communications and public outreach coordinator, Montgomery County Recreation.
The Chinese New Year will begin on Jan. 28 with celebrations happening throughout the months of January and February.
The Schweinhaut Senior Center will be hosting a Chinese New Year Party on Feb. 23 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will include dancing and a luncheon through the Senior Nutrition Program, according to Martinez.
