Juvenile Charged With Arson in Fire at Middle School

UPDATED, Nov. 14,  9:15 p.m. – A juvenile is charged with arson in the Friday fire at Forest Oak Middle School in Gaithersburg.

According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesman Pete Piringer, the fire was intentionally set in the second floor boys’ bathroom and caused $10,000 damage to the school. Three students were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The juvenile faces arson and other lesser charges, Piringer said.

 

UPDATED 11:45 a.m. – According to Fire and Rescue Spokesman Pete Piringer, the fire at Forest Oak Middle School is out. The evacuated students are sheltered in place and on buses. Piringer reports that several students were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries not related to the fire.

The Forest Oak Middle School in Gaithersburg is being evacuated for a report of a fire on the second floor of the building.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesman Pete Piringer is reporting the fire at the building at 651 Saybrooke Oaks Boulevard in Gaithersburg. No additional details were immediately available.
