Repairs Continue at the Site of Water Main Break In Silver Spring

UPDATED 8.1.15 WSSC reports that as of 5:00 p.m on August 1, the right northbound lane of Colesville Road and the right, southbound lane of Georgia Avenue will remain closed.

These two lanes will be closed through much of Monday, August 3, and other lane closures are expected to begin on Tuesday, August 4, while final paving is completed.

The center northbound lane of Colesville Road is open to traffic.

Crews will return after morning rush hour on August 3 to finish underground concrete work. Final paving of the road and restoration to the sidewalk at Colesville Road and Georgia Avenue will begin on August 4.

The broken section of pipe has been replaced and all other utilities in the area have been confirmed to be working.

UPDATED 7.31.15 WSSC crews report that pipe replacement work is complete. Road repairs will continue through Saturday.

All customers impacted by this break now have water, according to WSSC.

UPDATED 7.30.15 WSSC crews are working to repair a 16-inch water main break in downtown Silver Spring.

The break occurred at 8600 Georgia Avenue near Colesville Road during the Wednesday evening rush hour.

According to WSSC, there are lane closures on northbound Colesville Road and southbound Georgia Avenue. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
