Renters Alliance to Host Candidates Forum

Renters Alliance is hosting a candidates forum for the office of County Executive and County Council on March 5 from 7 -9:30 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Center.

Candidates will address renter community issues, including rent stabilization, just-cause eviction law, and code enforcement.

According to a news release, committed candidates include Isiah Leggett, Doug Duncan, Phil Andrews, Jim Shalleck who are running for the office of County Executive and all the current County Council incumbents running for office and their challengers. The audience is expected to include more than 150 tenant activists, labor, community, civic and religious leadership et al.

The Renters Alliance is a 501-C-3 nonprofit organization based in Montgomery County. The organization was founded in 2010 in response to a recommendation by the Montgomery County Tenants Work Group report which called for the formation of an organization dedicated to providing tenant education and advocacy.
