Remembering Frank Nelson (PHOTOS)

franknelsonMontgomery Community Media is mourning the loss of Frank Nelson, a volunteer producer and the creator of FRESH TV, who passed away on Sept. 18.

A Silver Spring resident, Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cheryl, and his daughters,  Nilaja Nelson of Georgia, Ifetayo Nelson of North Carolina, Tiffany Nelson and Chantel Nelson both of Silver Spring. He is also survived by five grandchildren, one god-grandson, five siblings and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Nelson volunteered at MCM for over ten years and brought his award-winning FRESH TV show to MCM. His career in broadcasting began when he was 15 at a radio station in Buffalo, New York. He went on to receive a degree in television production from Grahm Junior College in Boston, MA. He moved to Silver Spring in 1997, and recently worked at National Public Radio and Radio Free Asia.

Frank Nelson is remembered for his dedication to family and community.
