Recipes for Eating on Less Than $5 a Day
The recent SNAP The Silence Challenge brought on a range of emotions from particpants as well as observers. Some appreciated the effort to understand just how difficult it is to eat for less than $5 a day, while others were furious that ‘rich people’ were just going hungry for a week and not doing more to address poverty in Montgomery County.
My goal during the challenge was not simply to stay within budget, but discover how I could eat healthy and sustain my energy without more expensive foods & supplements. I reached out to a heath coach to develop a meal plan that would accomplish that. Several people were upset by my approach, rightly saying that low-income individuals can’t afford such support. Coming up with tasty and nutritious food combinations is beyond the reach of most.
Until now…
I don’t want the week to have been a wasted effort with no useful outcomes. So at my urging, health coach Simone Sophia has agreed to make available the entire week of low-cost, high-impact recipes for 97-cents (just to cover the costs of the stock photos used in the ebook). To get them, just visit Healthy Eating On $5 a Day Blueprint.
And if you want the services of Simone for a 30-minute one-on-one coaching session, she’ll drop her normal $97 rate down to just $10 by mentioning you saw the offer here on my blog. Her email is: simone@growwithsimone.com
As you saw from the many SNAP Challenge participants, trying to walk in the shoes of low-income individuals and families is hard. We can never fully appreciate all that you face to feed yourself and your family, month in and month out. But such high-profile activities can hopefully accomplish some good by shining a light on your struggles and how we can all work together to end poverty in Montgomery County… one step at a time.
