RAD! Warehouse Improvements at Manna

Manna Food Center generates more than 190 food boxes each day to distribute during the week to our clients. We generate nutrition information and classes to help lead Montgomery County in their food choices. We generate $5 in food from every $1 you contribute in funds. We also generate power! Well, our generator does. We all know that sometimes the power goes out, especially in monster storms, but at Manna we can never let the lights dim. Our food safety requirements include refrigerating and freezing some foods, and when the power goes out we have to keep those freezers running.

Rad

This morning, we received a new radiator (we named it Rad) for our generator! Though it was working in emergencies, our generator was a worry to our Operations staff, who come down in any inclement weather just to make sure it has kicked on. Now, we won’t have to worry about the power going out. We can ensure food safety no matter the power situation in Montgomery County.

There are many other improvements to our warehouse on our wish list. Your support of Manna in the coming years will help us revitalize our space by helping to keep our power up and running, and our freezer space unlimited. The ever growing needs of clients mean that Manna needs to keep our warehouse ahead of the times by improving our efficiency and safety. You can learn more about our capital needs by emailing me at allison@mannafood.org.
