Public Tips Leads to Arrest of Commercial Robbery Suspect

Ashley Watts, 23, of Germantown

Montgomery County police say tips from the public have led to the arrest of a woman involved in a commercial robbery at a Germantown grocery store.

Ashley Watts, 23, was arrested and charged with one count of robbery, one count of second-degree assault, and one count of destruction of property.

Officers from Montgomery County Police Department responded to the Shoppers grocery store, located at 180666 Mateny Road, following a report of an assault.

Police say Watts entered the grocery store, and assaulted a 47-year-old female employee after demanding baby formula locked in a case. The employee was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Earlier this week, police released surveillance video of two suspects and asked for the public’s help in identifying them

Detectives determined the second suspect did not participate in the robbery following an investigation.

Watts was released after posting a $3,500 bond.
