Public Libraries to Host Financial Literacy Conversation With ‘The Color of Money’ Columnist Michelle Singletary
In celebration of National Financial Literacy Month, Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will be hosting a virtual conversation, “Five Steps to Thrive During a Financial Crisis and Beyond,” with Washington Post’s Michelle Singletary on Saturday, April 24.
Singletary, a University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University alumna, writes the award-winning nationally syndicated personal finance column “The Color of Money.” Singletary is a published author of three personal finance books with her latest work, “What to Do with Your Money When Crisis Hits: A Survival Guide,” coming out in May.
Singletary has appeared on “Oprah,” NBC’s “Today,” and CNN. She was also the financial expert for ABC’s “The Revolution” and is a frequent contributor to NPR.
According to MCPL, Singletary will be providing “an entertaining and informative presentation about how to understand personal finances, from budgeting to becoming an informed investor,” making complicated financial terms easy to understand.
The conversation will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Registration is required and can be done on the MCPL website. The event will be held through MCPL’s “Virtual Branch,” as all library locations are currently still closed to the public.
