Proposal for 7-11 Near School in Poolesville Draws Concern

Proposed 7-11 Concept

A proposal for a new 7-11 that will be located directly across from Poolesville Elementary School will be presented at tonight’s Poolesville Planning Commission meeting.

The concept plan calls for a 7-11 convenience store along with six gasoline pumps across from the elementary school, which is located on Fisher Avenue.

Cliff Kinney, president of the Poolesville Elementary School PTA, said he is concerned that the driveway of the 7-11 is “basically across the main entrance to the school,” he said.

That would create traffic pattern problems, he said.

Mary McGuire, vice president of the PTA, said she will attend tonight’s meeting.

The PTA is concerned, she said, noting, “It’s all related to the safety of the students, of course. At the end of the day, we are all about the safety and traffic patterns.”

Tonight’s meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at 19721 Beall Street. See the agenda bellow.
