Unofficial Election Results Posted Online

It will be another ten days before the unofficial Presidential Primary Election results are certified in Montgomery County.

Board of Elections Spokesperson Marjorie Rohrer said staff will count the last batch of absentee ballots on April 13 and then the Board will certify the results on April 16. The results are then forwarded to the state for certification, Rohrer said.

The unofficial Montgomery County turnout for the April 3rd primary is 14.79 percent or 80,064 voters but those numbers could go up because elections staff are still counting absentee and provisional ballots. Rohrer said precinct specific results will not be ready for three or four more days.

Comparitively, the Montgomery County turnout in the 2008 Presidential Primary was 45 percent, or three times higher.

Rohrer said Spring Break definitely impacted this year’s election. She noted there were not as many people working for candidates, not as many election judges and certainly not as many voters.

Still, Rohrer said the voter turnout was higher than she expected because “it was essentially a Republican primary” in a county that has a majority of registered democrats.

As for the close District 2 Board of Education race, Rohrer said she would not call the race until all the ballots are counted.
