President Orders U.S. Flag to Half-Staff

President Barack Obama has issued a proclamation ordering the U.S. flag to be flown at half staff from now until sunset Dec. 18 “as a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut.”
Pursuant to President Obama’s proclamation to lower the United States Flag in honor of the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on December 14, in Newtown, Connecticut, Governor Martin O’Malley has also ordered the United States Flag and Maryland State Flag to be flown at half-staff immediately.
