President Orders U.S. Flag to Half Staff on Oct. 9th in Honor of Fallen Firefighters

President Barack Obama has ordered the U.S. flag to be flown at half staff from sunrise to sunset on Oct. 9 in honor of the National Firefighters Memorial Service.

As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag will be lowered to half staff as well because no flag may fly higher than the United States flag.

President Obama has proclaimed Oct. 9 – 15 as Fire Prevention Week.
