Admission is $5 per child per session, payable at the door. There is no fee for adults.

This lively cultural arts experience introduces three to five year olds, along with their parents or guardians, to stories, music and movement. Led by experienced performer and early childhood specialist Andi Rosati, participants clap, snap and have fun as they explore the arts through singing, dancing and active listening to story books.

“Arts on the Green family programming is exciting and ever changing, just like our audiences,” says Shellie Williams, Arts Administrator for the City of Gaithersburg. “Songs ands Stories is just one way parents can introduce their children to the world of art. With programs for all ages at the Arts Barn and Kentlands Mansion, our goal is to build experiences for families to enjoy the arts together.”

Songs and Stories is part of the Arts on the Green “Just for Family” series, which also includes an introduction to jazz with Bop Goes the Weasel, a Celtic Christmas in the elegant surroundings of Kentlands Mansion and family visual arts programs.

The Arts Barn and Kentlands Mansion have joined creative forces to become Arts on the Green, the City of Gaithersburg’s premier center for the performing and visual arts. Patrons to both venues have long enjoyed quality entertainment, but with the launch of Arts on the Green there are more cultural programming choices, centralized ticketing for both locations, and a greater web and Facebook presence.

The slate of new programs includes both professional and community theater, four tracks of music including jazz, classical, Americana and world genres, a schedule of programs “just for families,” and Open Mic @ the Mansion nights for emerging and established local performers . A new partnership has formed with musicians of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, who will perform in both the Arts Barn and Mansion.
