Pregnant School Teacher’s Murder Suspect to Appear in Court Friday Morning

The man accused of shooting his pregnant girlfriend and burying her body in a shallow grave is expected to appear back in court Friday morning.

Tyler Tessier, 34, is charged with first-degree murder of Laura Wallen. He was also charged with altering physical evidence and making false statements to a police officer.

Wallen’s disappearance prompted a news conference with her family, including Tessier urging her to come home.

At the time of the news conference, Tessier was already a person of interest because of inconsistencies in his story, according to police.

An autopsy report revealed that Wallen, a school teacher at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia, was 14 weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
