Powerupmontco to Lobby Annapolis

Power Up Montgomery County urges resident action on two currently before the Maryland General Assembly. They are House Bill 89 and Senate Bill 8 which involve natural gas surcharges. Take a look at their latest email to supporters.

Please join Powerupmontco and AARP on:

Thursday, March 7, 2013 in Annapolis for Lobby Day from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Transportation and lunch will be provided courtesy of AARP.

Despite Powerupmontco’ s efforts at defeating House Bill 89 and Senate Bill 8, these bills are moving through the Maryland General Assembly at a fast pace.  Many Montgomery County State Legislators continue to vote for these bills despite their anti-consumer nature.  These natural gas surcharge bills allow utility companies to by-pass the Public Service Commission process and use the Assembly to pass legislation that could impose higher fees on ratepayers without a review process.

Here are the details:

A bus will be provided courtesy of AARP at a location and time to be determined once we receive R.S.V.P.’s from Powerupmontco supporters.

9:30 AM:  Powerupmontco supporters arrive at Lawyers Mall (an area between the House and Senate Buildings in Annapolis and the State Capitol).  We will have placards ready to distribute to legislators with our position printed on them.

10:00 to 10:30 AM:  Session Begins

Powerupmontco supporters can continue to hand out placards or attend the legislative session.

11:00 AM:  Luncheon at Governor Calvert House and Debriefing

Thanks to the gracious generosity of AARP a complimentary lunch will be provided.

1:00 PM:   Bus Departs from Annapolis

Please R.S.V.P. to Powerupmontco@gmail.com as soon as possible.

Thank you, as always, for your support.
