Delta Scholarship Applications Due May 3

PVAC Fund LogoScholarships are awarded to Montgomery County High School Seniors that meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a high school senior graduating from a Montgomery County Public School.
  2. Be a resident of Montgomery County.
  3. Have a 3.0 GPA of higher.
  4. Be enrolled in a four year accredited institution by fall 2014 seeking a Bachelor’s Degree.
  5. Have an annual family gross income that does not exceed $75,000.

Applicants are judged on the following criteria:

  1. Academic Achievement
  2. Community Service
  3. Financial Need

The maximum annual award per scholarship recipient is $1,500.00

Scholarship Applications for 2014 must be postmarked by Saturday May 3, 2014.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is a public service organization of college educated women that strives to improve the condition of African Americans and in so doing build a stronger more just country for all Americans.  During its 101 year history, the organization has developed an extensive array of public service projects through its Five-Point Program Thrust of Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.  The Potomac Valley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., serves the greater Montgomery County, Maryland area, but particularly the neighborhoods in Potomac and the Northwest corner of the County.

About the PVAC Fund, Inc

The PVAC Fund is a 501 ( c) 3 non-profit organization that serves as the fundraising arm of the Potomac Valley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  The PVAC Fund, Inc. awarded 22 Scholarships in 2013; 100% of the Scholarships were funded by community support and the generous donations of members that support the Named Scholarship Program, Corporate Named Scholarship Program for Young Entrepreneurs, GEMs Giving Circle and PVAC Annual Charity Crab Feast.
