Potomac Boy Scout Gives Back to Veterans

Potomac Boy Scout Joel Berinstein gathered a group of fellow scouts and volunteers to put together 304 care packages for veterans staying in VA Hospitals.

Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, combs, tissues, toothpaste, lotion and deodorant can be found inside the boxes. For veterans with a longer stay, the gifts include activity and puzzle booklets. Each box also features a handwritten card with the message  “get well soon” or “thank you for your service”.

Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals do not supply these items for patients so they must be donated.

Berinstein set up an Amazon Wish List to collect the various items. The packages were assembled at Synagogue Congregation Har Shalom in Potomac.

When they were done,  Berinstein and the group dropped off the supplies at the Washington, D.C. VA medical center.
