Politics Divide Liz Matory’s Family for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is typically a time to reflect on our blessings, spend time with extended family, eat too much Turkey and watch football on the TV. Most families have at least one relative that sees things differently than the rest or marches to their own drummer. But most families just take that in stride.

Not so for Liz Matory’s extended family this Thanksgiving. This year, according to Matory, she was not invited to her family’s Thanksgiving dinner due to her politics. She is a Trump supporter.

Matory is a Silver Spring resident, Montgomery County Central Republican Central Committee Member and author of Born Again Republican. In 2014, she was a Democratic candidate for District 18 of the Maryland House of Delegates. She ran for the eighth district of the U.S. House as a republican in 2016.
