Police Think Pair of Attempted Burglaries Are Linked

Montgomery County police believe two residential burglaries — one in North Bethesda and one in Layhill — were committed by the same people. Police have released surveillance video of a woman believed to be involved in hopes the public can help identify her.
Bethesda District officers were called to the 11900 block of Hunters Lane in North Bethesda about 10 p.m. June 19 for the report of an attempted residential burglary, according to a statement issued by police.
The female homeowner told officers that when she arrived home about 8 p.m., she was told by a neighbor that two men and two women had been acting suspiciously around the house.
The homeowner reviewed her home surveillance video and saw that a woman knocked on her door about 6:52 p.m., police said. About 6:58 p.m., the homeowner saw the two men enter her back yard and one, wearing gloves, walked onto her deck, police said.
About 7 p.m., the neighbor saw all of them in a champagne colored 2005 Nissan Murano, police said. Detective determined the suspects did not gain entry into the home.
The same evening about 8:20 p.m., Wheaton District officers responded to a home in the 13200 block of Redspire Court in the Layhill area, police said.
The man who owned the home told police that he heard knocking at his front door and then footsteps inside his home, police said. He said he found four men in the kitchen, police said. All four fled.
The homeowner saw the four flee in two SUVs, one black and one off-white colored, police said.
Investigators determined that no property had been stolen from the home and that the four forcibly entered the home through a rear sliding glass door, police said.
Detectives have further determined that female suspect seen on the home surveillance video from the earlier attempted burglary on Hunters Lane was seen driving one of the SUVs that fled from the Redspire Court burglary, police said.
