Police Seek Public’s Help on Shots Fired into Piney Branch Home

Montgomery County police detectives are asking for the public’s help in their investigation of an Aug. 3 shooting into a home near Piney Branch.

Although the home was occupied, no one was hurt in the shooting, police said.

The shooting occurred before 7:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at a home in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace, police said.

Detectives learned that a gold or tan-colored SUV approached the front of the home and that the front seat passenger discharged a gun several times toward the home, police said.

The shooter reloaded and continued shooting toward the home, police said. The man who fired the shots is described as 20 to 30 years of age, 6 feet tall, and with a thin build, police said. He had short black hair, a thin black beard and was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded-sweatshirt, dark pants, and white shoes, police said.

Investigators recovered a bullet fragment from inside the home. Officers also found numerous spent shell casings in the roadway of Quebec Terrace and a bullet fragment in the roadway of Quebec Street, police said.

Anyone with information regarding this assault, the shooting or the SUV is asked to call the Silver Spring police district Investigative Section at 240-773-6870. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
