Police Seek Man for Burglary, Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards
Montgomery County police seek a man who used credit cards stolen May 12 from a home in the Woodside area of Silver Spring. The cards were then used in stores in Wheaton and Silver Spring, police said.
Police have released surveillance photographs of the man and hope someone among the public can help identify him.
About 9:44 p.m. Saturday, May 12, Bethesda police district officers responded to a home in the 1700 block of East West Highway for the report of a residential burglary, police said.
Detectives learned that sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., the man entered the occupied home through a rear door and stole property, including the credit cards, police said.
Police said the man used a stolen credit card at two Silver Spring stores: the 7-Eleven store at 8455 Colesville Road and the H&M store at 8518 Fenton St. The same man tried to use a stolen credit card at the Champs Sports store inside the Westfield Wheaton mall at 11160 Veirs Mill Road, Wheaton, but that transaction was declined, police said.
Anyone who recognizes the man or has information about this burglary is asked to call the Bethesda police district Investigative Section at 240-773-6710.
